This recipe is about as easy as it gets for apple sauce. It is a simple recipe that my husband came up with one morning. I think it was an accident. I suggested he boil some apple slices for the baby. He did, but he also mashed them. Baby R had been going through a no puree phase, but loved the applesauce. Since them it has become a favorite. She especially likes it spread on toast. I especially like it spread on toast with a thin layer of cream cheese. Yum!
We do not add sugar to this recipe. Baby R loves tart flavors, so we use tart apples. If your baby is less fond of tart flavors you may want to try a sweeter apple, so you can still avoid the sugar.
